The Lead Twice Followed

I often passed a little church on a country road and thought I would like to visit it someday. So one Sunday when in the area I DID visit it, only to discover that I had already visited it once before, a few years earlier. It was one of those little adventures that seemed original at the time, but evidently it had seemed adventurous and original once before and I had followed the same lead again.
The people remembered me and seemed delightd to see me again. Once I entered the church I too began to have a dim recollection that I had been there before. Our relationships had an opportunity to grow a little more.
I don’t know why I didn’t remember the first visit any better, but I ‘m beginning to feel predictable. It could be that when we feel most original and spontaneous, even creative, we’re often following predictable patterns established long before. Might as well face it, there is One, after all, who has established our paths from of old and for Whom our comings and goings are no surprise at all!
