The Three Peaks

When someone recently referred to the kingdom, the power, and the glory of the Lord’s Prayer as the three “peaks” I was intrigued. I’v thought about it alot since. How we are so inclined to attempt to plant our own flags up on the summits of those snow-capped peaks as I imagine them, gleaming in the Sonshine, saying, “This is MY kingdom that I’ve put together and I can manage it just fine, or this is My power at work here let me bottle it and sell it, or this is for MY honor and glory can I have some of the credit for it? Of course we would never put it in so obvious a manner but these are closer to the actual sentiments behind the scenes. But when we recite “Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory” we are alluding to an inter-relationship whereby our Savior provides a daily context in which his inimitable power is to be demonstrated through each one of us uniquely with all the glory and honor flowing to Him and yet getting us “wet’ with it in the orocess! How ingenious! We are to come and go at His judicious leading without lingering too long at those exalted polar peaks, lest we freeze to death.
