The Life Giving Spirit

Driving home from work I turned on my customary FM station that has been such a blessing on that very drive so many times in the past. But at that moment it seemed rather bland, at least for my purpose in that unique instant. Then the realization came that i ought never to listen to worshipful music just to be listening to worshipful music, any more than i ought to listen to teaching or speaking just to be listening to teaching or speaking. In fact it dawned on me that to do so is the quickest surest path to an unhealthy form of religiousity known to humankind! I must be sure that what I listen to or watch is life-giving in some way. And if it isn’t, if it’s just passing the time then there is something else, some other occupation that would be life-giving at that moment and I need to find it. Even if it is just driving along quietly observing and enjoying the clouds and trees and fields and homes by the wayside or listening without neglecting my driving responsibility. Our Creator and Redeemer intends and provides that we be able to be receiving and giving back his life continuously, and we need never settle for less than that! The Holy Spirit is aleays schooling us in different sensitivities to His promptings if we are still willing to learn.
